Things I am none too fond of
  1. The bus driver driving aggresively and likely illegally. (That's not what the shoulder is for. Especially when you're as wide as a bus.)
  2. The fact that if he weren't, we'd be barely moving at all.

I'm in a six-player RPG. We have a Julian, a Julia, and a Julie.

This could get confusing.

facebook
After a few incidents in a row that suggested I might want to be on Facebbok, I took advantage of my wasted afternoon and sat down to play with it.

Last I looked, I had five friends, had made requests of a bunch more, including several people I'd lost touch with, and had one friend request from somebody I sort-of knew in high school, who appears to have detected me by magic.

I'm still figuring out the interface, but it's not completely horrid.

I also still need to add a picture to my profile, to help differentiate me from the other Julian Lighton out there.

And I just realized I can make a dedicated email address on jl8e.org for all the notification emails.

Disturbed
Still more Disturbed
and...
Paramore

Not the definition of "fun"
Being on a bus heading toward the Lincoln Tunnel, sitting right above the squealing brakes, which are being used every 5-10 feet.

Ow.

An important question
Does anybody have a better name for the non-denominational winter gift-giving holiday? That name's a bit unweildy, and "NDWGGH" sounds like you're suffering from severe gastro-intestinal distress.

The cheese is strong in this one...
One thing that happens with ripping my old tapes is that I get to hear some really cheesy lyrics.

I think I'd be getting less cheese if I were mainlining Gouda than I do from Europe's song about ninjas.

Which has no idea what ninjas were.

I've finally got the point of Twitter
It's where you go to post things like this:

I've mustered enough energy to go to bed, where I may dream more dreams combining politics and rock band.

Weird
My queue of unread books borrowed from other people is currently empty.

Maybe this will let me make a dent in my queue of unread books that I own.

Fun with the English language
Headline from my local paper:

Woman stabs ex-beau over cell phone

Hands up if you first read that the same way I did.

A twisty maze of electric spaghetti, all different
I have just plugged in:

  • My computer
  • My iPod (into the computer)
  • An iGo multi-gizmo charger
  • A Bluetooth transmitter for the iPod (into the iGo)
  • My Palm (into the iGo)
  • A Bluetooth headphone/headset (into its own charger)
  • My phone (into its charger)

The 80s left their mark
For the first time in about a month, I'm planning to buy some of the downloadable songs for Rock Band.

And it's Duran Duran.

I'm at DexCon
I will return to reality on Sunday night.

Maybe.

For once, I got every event I signed up for. Except for the one I thought I was signing up for, but instead signed up for a D&D 3.5 game from midnight to 4 on Saturday. Apparantly I can't tell the difference between 209 and 296.

I also seem to have managed to sign up for two events simultaneously. Oops. I think I can manage to play in both of those, though.

My weird internal soundtrack
One thing I noticed in the past is that, when I was in a really good mood, the two songs that had the greatest tendency to pop into my head were singularly inappropriate: Black Sabbath's "Paranoid", and Nirvana's "Lithium".

Paranoid's wandered out of that playlist, probably due in part to Rock Band, but Lithium's still there. The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" may have joined it, but I'm not sure yet -- I've been on a Who kick recently anyway.

Now with mind-reading technology
I settle down on the bus, activate all my bluetooth tech, and pick what to listen to on my iPod. Since I have a song wanderring around my head, I pick the playlist I've made for that band...

...and it randomly starts on that song.

OK, I understand the laws of probability say something like this would eventually happen, but it's still kind of creepy.

Perhaps Missing the Point
There are currently posters splattered around Manhattan advertising the "National Texting Championships". (No, I'm not making that up.)

As far as I could tell, on these posters, every word is spelled out fully and correctly.
